Volunteer Experience: Basecamp International Centers believes that international volunteering promotes cross-cultural learning that helps create global awareness, understanding between cultures and provides the platform for positive change. Our volunteers have taught in schools, provided disaster relief support for the International Red Cross, conducted essential research to improve the management strategies of threatened environments, built homes for impoverished people, provided vocational training and programs for street kids and have worked in co-operation with hundreds of local organizations to distribute aid and improve the quality of life for people throughout Asia, Africa and Latin America

How about sea turtle conservation in Greece?
Archelon are an NGO working to protect the Loggerhead sea turtles that nest on the beaches of Greece. Its 150euros to take part for between 28days and 5 months! The only thing you pay when you are there is around 30euros a week for all food+water. Plus its camping and really really fun work!

I did my gap year in Kenya, had a totally fantastic time, loved every second of it. Definitely would recommend going there. There's a great guide on the BBC website that has loads of stuff about gap years, whether iot's the right thing for you and so on, definitley would check that out. I went with Aventure Gap Year Projects. I would go again anytime - was a real 'growing' experience. Would like to travel a bit more round the world now, it gave me the confidence to go off on my won as well.

Hi there, You can check out http://www.kicvop.orgKICVOP is a community-based NGO, operating on the outskirts of Kampala, Uganda. We are currently offering a short-term volunteering programme which usually lasts less than one month (the duration can be prolonged on request). Potential volunteers would be expected to carry out specific activities within the community such as community mapping, household interview and English teaching. The fee of $90 per week includes a shared bedroom(single room can be obtained with little extra fee), a shared bathroom, breakfast and lunch, induction training, necessary assistance from local volunteers when performing your job and working five days a week. For your case, you could take part in our long-term programme which will cost you $310 per month (which is cheaper than paying weekly). By doing so, you are also able to be involved in other bigger projects. Please do check out the website for info on other projects and do not hesitate to contact me landonmeng@gmail.com, as I am currently working here in Kazo.
