We have created an application - Go Out WW (now only for iPhone, but web version will be available soon too) that allows you to post events - activities in one of many categories of interest and send it to all people interested in this category events.
And here I am posting because one of the categories is volunteering. It might be useful for search of volunteers all over the world.
You simply post your event in volunteering category and send it out to everyone subscribed. In event page you can browse participants, use forum for discussions and write reviews.
Map page shows all available events.
Of course, posting is for free, volunteering/fundraising/charity category events will always be free. (other categories have commercial event posting options)
As we are only starting this project, member count is growing slowly. But I hope this will be useful indeed for many good deeds and people
