Every three weeks, OpenmindProjects hosts a 3-day cross culture training program for volunteers and travelers at our Volunteer and Training Center in Nong Khai, Thailand. The objective of our training is to help you become a successful volunteer and to help you be able to use your special talents in a new culture. A successful volunteer has social and cross-cultural skills, curiousity and self confidence, and patience. Our training is focused on boosting these skills and your self-confidence.
More details about our training * Our training is activity based, meaning that instead of simply listening, you will get to learn by interacting and communicating with people.
* You will learn about Southeast Asian culture, important "do's and don'ts", how to greet people, how to dress, and more.
* You will learn some basic Thai / Lao language skills. You will have an opportunity to use these skills by ordering food at restaurants, going shopping, introducing yourself, and so on.
* You will learn how to socialize with the local people and how to interact with and teach students.
* You will receive our OpenmindProjects Volunteer Handbooks, which will give you a chance to learn and prepare for your training and volunteer experience.
* On the final day, you will have a short test based on what you learned in the training, after which you will receive a Volunteer Training Certificate to bring to your placement.
