Hi everyone

I'm Miek, a 34 year old woman from Belgium who's starting an internet and freelance writing, photography and coaching career. My dream is to combine this job with traveling around the world and hopefully settling down somewhere in paradise someday.

I just got back from a one year trip around Australia, New Zealand and Southeast Asia. This amazing experience made me realize I wanted to change my life completely and starting a freelance career seemed to be the perfect way to do that. But instead of staying in Belgium to work everything out, I'd love to keep moving right away. That's why I'm looking for volunteer opportunities abroad, which enable me to help other people and at the same time work on my own career. Being able to do all that in an interesting and beautiful environment, would be the cherry on top of the cake!

Surfing the web, looking for my next move, I stumbled upon many volunteer sites and immediately loved the idea of working in exchange for a place to stay. So if you're looking for a enthusiastic, passionate and capable volunteer, I'm your gal!

I have several degrees, interests and a lot of know how so I'm sure there are plenty of jobs I can help you with. I'm willing to work up to 30 hours a week, in exchange a nice place to stay, good food, peaceful vibes, great experiences and enough time left to spent on my own new career.

Although short term opportunities are discussable, I would love to commit myself for a couple of months instead of just a few days or weeks. At the moment, I prefer discovering Canada & the US, but I'm very flexible and open to any other country suggestion.

On my blog you can find out everything you need to know about me. I just started with this blog and my website, travel and picture blogs are coming soon. So if you need any more details, please don't hesitate to ask me. I'm an open book!

I'm looking forward to hear from you and if you can't use me this time, maybe later on. In the meantime, tips about alternative options are more than welcome!

Thanks so much for hearing me out!

Best regards

Miek

Teach Literacy at Weaver Bird: Community For the Arts.

Weaver Bird: Community For The Arts is an organization that uses art to empower and sustain the Ndegeya community, a small village just outside of Masaka, Uganda.

Weaver Bird facilitates various programs to enable and sustain the community through art such as the Women’s Handicrafts project and COCHICO children’s library.

We have recently opened COCHICO Children’s Library. We are facilitating three Literacy programs through the COCHICO Lib: After School Literacy program, Trainer of Trainers program, Community Links Project.

The objective of COCHICO Lib is to develop literate individuals who have the capacity to be successful, competent, independent, lifelong learners.

Through these programs we hope to promote Literacy throughout the Ndegeya community.
