Friends of Needy Children (FNC) is a child focused organization works with/ for most disadvantaged children and young people of Nepal for their rights and welfare. FNC believes that rights are not possible just by making rights holders aware of the rights and empowered to assert it. Delivery of the service provisions and opportunities for the most disadvantaged is also equally important to ensure the rights and just society. In Nepal , a responsible, accountable and credible civil society organization driven by the need of the most disadvantaged/ underprivileged has a big potential for making wider impact from grassroots to the national levels. Keeping the fact in minds, a group of like minded socially motivated people established FNC as a non-profit social organization in 1996. The intends of this organization are to broaden opportunities and ensure important basic service provisions to the most disadvantaged/ underprivileged children and young people of Nepal so that children and young people entertain their entitled rights. This organisation looks after disadvantaged children and young people of Nepal for their rights and welfare Half the children in Nepal under the age of 5 are malnourished, a rate far above the poverty rate. Poor Nutrition is one of the leading causes of death for young Nepalese children. Many of those who survive severe malnutrition suffer permanent physical and mental retardation that limits their potential forever. Poverty is not the only, or even the most important cause of malnutrition - ignorance of good nutrition is. Nutrition education is the key to ending this tragedy. Volunteers can help by doing the following task: The Nutritional Rehabilitation Home (NRH) requires volunteers with expertise in medicine, nutrition, nursing, physiotherapy, cerebral palsy. The NRH also needs volunteers who are willing and able to build relationships with the children and mothers who reside at the home. Opportunities for health and hygiene education exist in terms of teaching mothers hygiene, sanitation, cooking. Administrative help is also in need. At the Nutritional Rehabilitation Home (NRH), volunteers would be involved in patient care, nutritional assessment, nursing, physio, based on their previous experience. Other tasks would include playing with the children, engaging the mothers, administrative help, and participation in field visits to discharged patients. Being willing to jump in and help in the kitchen and cleaning is also hugely appreciated.
