Hey there!

This is Jonas from Germany. I'm a 24 year old student of mechanical engineering in the 8th semester. Before I graduate in about 1 1/2 year I would like to spend 6 month (about March to August 2011) in Africa as a volunteer. I don't have specific expectations to the work that I will be doing as long as I can use any of my abilities in a meaningful way.

Even if my research on the Internet makes me think, that there are no organizations left that offer free or cheap accommodation and food for work, I still hope that there are some nonprofit programs which are just happy to find somebody who is motivated and a good team player.

Beside German and English I speak a little bit French and I’m always willing to improve my language skills.

I would be very grateful for your reply.

its hard to get free organizations out there. and the ones that are offering you services for free have very basic conditions to live in
but there are affordable programs out there like http://www.volunteercapitalcentre.org
