Hi everyone! I’m pretty much decided on doing some volunteering overseas, and I was hoping you could help me out. Do any of you have any recommendations for companies you used, and details on why you liked them, or any ones to avoid, and again, how come? Thanks!

I',m looking to go for six months, preferably with a non-faith based company. I'm willing to do pretty much any kind of project, from community work to conservation, and I don't mind where I go as long as it's outside North America. Thanks.

If teaching English in Thailand might be a possibility, come check out our website at www.tmvolunteers.org. We are a small community-based organization that brings volunteers from around the world to teach English to children of under-funded schools in our local area. We also really stress creativity, and require that volunteers create their own lesson plans based on their own special skills and experiences. That way the children are learning about other cultures and ways of life, while learning English.

Good luck and I hope you have a great time, whatever you decide to do.

Hi there, hope this not too late for you. Check out  CCSV-Nepal  its a local base organization in Kathmandu Nepal. but has a good and affordable volunteer program.  if the weblink doesn't work just search center for cultural Studies & Volunteering-Nepal.

Good luck to your Endeavors!

Whatever you do  .... Make sure you do not volunteer when a local community member could carry out your job for a wage - and that the project is fully supported with a long-term plan for sustainability. If you are not giving skills to your project then you should be donating considerable funds to help. That's my view anyway. Some organisations can ensure this happens, others are just agents jumping on the new enthusiasm for volunteering - and taking much needed help and support away from very effective projects.

Hey you!!
i believe you would be interested in taking part in Touch Africa Network (TAN) international volunteer program, more so because of their unique approach to community development. please visit our website www.touchafricanetwork.net for more information on their volunteer program. if you are interested i could also get you connected with TAN support staff(they are also past volunteers to Africa) in North America to help you plan your trip as well as advice you on projects that you could take part in. Thanks :)
